Renting with citymate
Questions and answers
Short answers to what people ask before they reserve. The Reservation Terms are the binding text; this page explains them in plain words.
Who is citymate for?
Anyone looking for a long-term place in Poznań: students and people relocating for work, from Poland or abroad. Rentals are six months or longer; there are no short stays.
How does reserving a place work?
You pay a reservation fee, 500 zł unless the listing states otherwise, through Stripe (BLIK, card, Apple Pay or Google Pay). That takes the place off the market for 5 days while you read and sign the lease online, in Polish and English. Once the lease is signed and the first payments are made, you collect the keys from a deposit box.
When do I get the reservation fee back?
In full, within 7 days, if we do not send you the lease during the reservation period, if the place stops being available because of us, or if the lease is not concluded through no one's fault. The fee is not refunded if you resign after receiving the lease. When you sign, the fee counts in full towards the one-off commission, or towards the deposit when the listing has no commission.
What does the monthly price cover?
A room is let at one monthly amount: rent plus a fixed media fee, so there are no meter readings and no utility contracts in your name. In a whole flat you pay rent plus the building fee, and metered utilities on your own usage; citymate handles the setup. Every listing spells out its own breakdown.
What do I pay before I move in?
The first month, the deposit and, when the listing has one, the one-off commission. The reservation fee you already paid is deducted from that. The deposit comes back within 30 days after you move out, minus any documented deductions.
Can I sign the lease from abroad?
Yes. The lease is sent by e-mail and signed electronically, so you can sign before you arrive. It comes in Polish and English; the Polish version is the binding one.
Who do I sign the lease with?
With CITYROOM Sp. z o.o., ul. Krótka 1, 64-140 Włoszakowice, NIP 697-233-65-35, the company behind citymate. You rent from a company, not a private person.
Can I see the place before I decide?
Yes. Ask for an in-person viewing from the listing page and the team confirms a time with you.
What if the place is not as described?
You have 48 hours after collecting the keys to report a material mismatch with the listing. We then fix it, offer a comparable place or settle and refund as set out in the Reservation Terms.
How do I get the keys?
From a secure key box at the building, once the lease is signed and the first payments are made. The instructions come by e-mail, so you can arrive at any hour.
Which languages do you work in?
Polish and English. The site, the lease and the e-mails come in both, and you can write to contact@citymate.pl in either.
How do I know a place is still free?
Only published listings can be reserved. A reserved or rented place keeps its page but says it is taken and shows similar free places; you can leave what you are looking for there and we e-mail you when a matching place goes live, at most one e-mail a day.
